How to Smoke A Bong: A Comprehensive Guide
Smoking a bong is a time-honored tradition among cannabis enthusiasts, offering a smooth and potent way to enjoy your favorite herbs. Here I'll cover everything you need to know about properly smoking a bong, as well as how to use two popular variations: the gas mask bong and the gravity bong.

How to Properly Smoke a Bong

  1. Prepare Your Bong: Start by ensuring your bong is clean and free of any residue from previous use. I promise you will have a much better sesh with a clean bong.   2. Pack the Bowl: Grind your herbs to a fine consistency and pack them into the bowl of the bong. Use a grinder for best results, it will ensure an even burn and a smooth hit. Avoid overpacking the bowl because it can restrict airflow and lead to a harsh hit. If you overfilled the bowl, I recommend using a poker to create a hole down the middle of the bowl for airflow.

  3. Light the Bowl: Hold a lighter or hemp wick to the edge of the bowl while simultaneously inhaling through the mouthpiece. You can also use a glass wand that will not combust the flower and it will give you a vaporized hit. Start with a slow, steady inhale to draw the smoke into the chamber. Be sure to keep the flame away from your face to avoid burning yourself. You don't have to light the whole bowl at once. Especially if this is your first time. If it is your first time, I recommend cornering the bowl (only lighting a section of the bowl). It will give you a smaller hit and you will still have fresh green to light when you are ready to take another hit.

  4. Inhale and Clear the Chamber: Once the chamber is filled with smoke, remove the bowl to allow fresh air to flow through. Inhale deeply to clear the chamber before exhaling. Repeat as desired. 

  5. Clean Up: When you're finished smoking, remove the bowl and pour out any remaining water from the bong. Clean all components thoroughly to remove any residue and prevent buildup.

How to Use a Gas Mask Bong

  1. Assemble the Gas Mask: Attach the gas mask to the bong, ensuring a tight seal around your face to prevent smoke from escaping. Adjust the straps for a comfortable fit.

  2. Prepare the Bong: Fill the bong with water. Make sure the water covers the percs in the downstem. Light the bowl and begin inhaling through the gas mask.

  3. Inhale and Enjoy: As you inhale, the gas mask will fill with smoke. It's a unique and immersive smoking experience. Take slow, steady breaths to fully enjoy the effects. It can be a little intimidating so I don't recommend you smoke for the first time using the mask. 

  4. Remove the Gas Mask: Once you've finished smoking, carefully remove the gas mask and set it aside. Make sure you clean the bong and gas mask thoroughly after each use to maintain hygiene and prevent odors.

How to Use a Gravity Bong Like the Gravitron

  1. Prepare the Gravity Bong: Fill the large glass container with water. The more water you add, the more smoke you'll be able to collect for your hit. I recommend filling the glass 3/4 of the way full.

  2. Pack the Bowl: Pack the bowl with your ground herbs. Remember not to pack the bowl too tight so you have airflow. Place the bowl on the bottle and get ready to light. 

  3. Create Negative Pressure: Use a lighter or hemp wick to light the herbs while slowly pulling the bottle upward. As the bottle rises, it creates negative pressure inside, drawing smoke from the burning herbs into the bottle. 

  4. Inhale: Once the bottle is fully lifted, remove the bowl and place your mouth over the opening. Push the bottle back down into the water while inhaling to force the smoke into your mouth. You don't have to clear the whole bottle at once. Just stop where you've inhaled enough and then go in for more if you like.

  5. Repeat and Clean Up: Repeat the process as many times as you like. You'll need to clean the gravity bong thoroughly after each sesh to prevent buildup and maintain optimal performance.
